happy monday!

instagram has taken over as my little mini blog. it's so easy to just upload a photo with a caption of something i want to remember. and taking such a long break has made it hard for me to get back into blogging. i have sat at my desk so many times staring at a blank page trying to think of something to write. but nothing seems good enough...or worthy enough.

life lately has consisted of taking and picking up kayla and kyleigh from school. laundry. dishes. lots of outside time. one on one time with just kinsley, which this is the first that's ever happened since she was born. and soccer three times a week.

so if you haven't already go follow me on instagram, i would love to follow you back! and until i have something blog worthy to share i'll leave you with these cute photos of kinsley.

happy monday friends!

pictures

Do you all remember that promise I made...on the web, for everyone to see, about using my big camera more? Yeah, well that lasted about 2 weeks. Maybe 3. Carrying my dslr around with me everywhere is hard. But I felt like I needed to do it. I spent all that money on it. Every photographer talks about, "bring your camera with you everywhere. No exceptions." So I felt pressured to do so. But the problem with that? My favorite lens I have to manually focus. Have you ever tried to manually focus while holding a 23 lb baby on your hip? Not easy. But still I tried.

Until I read this blog post by a photographer that I so love and admire. (She doesn't know I exist because I am a secret stalker. Maybe that's considered a creeper?? hmm...anyway. haha.) Finally, a photographer told me it's ok to use your cell phone. She says to use whatever camera you got because the most important thing is that you are documenting your life. And she's so right. So while I do break out the big girl every once in awhile at home, and I do bring it with me when we go on outings...I don't feel like I have to use it. I use it when it's convenient and that's (finally) alright with me. :)

Some camera and instagram pictures from our life lately.

the calm after the storm

Things have finally calmed down at my house. My van door handle is fixed. Kinsley is feeling better. Kyleigh is rested and Kayla's ear is getting better day by day. And while all those things helped to calm me down I think what really did it was changing my mindset. I've spent the last week complaining about things when they are usually things that I am thankful for.

I'm thankful for a husband who is never home because he has two jobs instead of a husband who is always home because he has no work.

I'm thankful for stitches because in a few months that little scar on Kayla's ear will be almost gone.

I'm thankful for crying babies at school parades because it means that I'm home with them and able to go to all school activities. It means my girls are healthy and alive.

I'm thankful for the money to be able to get my wisdom teeth pulled. Getting that done means I'm only 3 short little visits away from being done with the dentist. Well, at least for another 6 months. ;)

I'm thankful for dirty dishes and piles of laundry. For toys everywhere and crumbs on the floor. For diaper genies filled to the top with diapers. Because all of those things mean we have food to eat and clothes to wear. We have toys to be played with.

I'm thankful for paper and crayons and markers and colored pencils on my kitchen table, on my floor and in Kayla's room. It means my girls love art.

Sometimes I think we need to remind ourselves to step back and see the big picture. And ask ourselves if what is bothering us will really matter in 5 years..a year, or even a week. Well, at least I know I do. Will it matter that Kinsley cried during that parade? No. But what does matter is that I was there for Kayla. And does it matter that my house is a mess right now? In the big picture? No. It means we lived. We loved. We laughed and we played together. And in the end that's all that really does matter.

Happy Sunday friends! Here are a few instagram photos from our week.

kayla week.

I've been pretty busy this week. And I don't mean to toot my own horn but I feel like a damn good mom right now. But I also feel like a crappy friend. But sometimes in life we have to chose to either be one or the other. And my girls deserve my undivided attention and that's exactly what they got this week. Most importantly? I feel closer to Kayla than I have in a long time. It's not that we weren't close to begin with but since she's the oldest I usually meet her needs last. I tell her to wait a minute more than I should. But since everything we did this week was for her she hardly got told to hang on a minute.

I just went ahead and declared this week Kayla week. It started off on Sunday. Kinsley and Kyleigh were napping so just the two of us ran off to get her hair cut. Something I've been putting off since November. I've only been getting trims for her since she was 3 but it was time to cut off a decent amount and get her hair healthy. I think we cut about 3 or 4 (maybe 4 or 5?) inches.

Monday we both had eye appointments. She's never had an eye exam and I haven't had one since I was in elementary school. I dropped Kyleigh off at my dad's and we went with Kinsley. And we both ended up needing glasses. I only need them to watch tv, for the computer, driving, etc. She needs them all the time. Her eyes are a little worse than mine but we both have the exact some problems with each of our eyes. Crazy, right? (I guess not. She is my daughter, lol.)

After that I took all three girls and we went to every place in sight that you can get glasses only to find out they don't take our insurance. Even though our eye doctor has glasses I wanted to shop around and check prices. Tuesday Kayla had a dentist appointment. I was going to pick her up at 1 pm from school but picked her up at 11 am so we could go back to the eye doctor and pick out our glasses. Kinsley and Kyleigh both fell asleep in the car after we left so we got McDonald's, she played on her tablet and we waited in the car until her dentist appointment.

I'm happy to report that she has no cavities!! Although she does need a back baby tooth pulled due to the way it came in and the way her 6 year molars came in. And she officially has her first loose tooth. (I'm not ready for the whole losing baby teeth stage. I think all kids look awkward when that happens. But I'm guessing I won't think that with Kayla since she's mine.) She did really well at the dentist. She said she wants to be one when she grows up so they offered her to come back and look around the office and see what they do for a couple of hours. Total 180 from last year. I went through 3 dentists before I found one that she would let clean her teeth!!!

Anyway. That's been our week so far. I picked up our glasses yesterday while she was at school. So of course I had to do a little mini session with her this morning.

Isn't she just the prettiest little girl in glasses, ever???

Instagram Friday & A Video!

After looking at my instagram from the past week I have come to a few conclusions:

1. Apparently all Kinsley does is stand.

And 2. All Kyleigh does is sleep.

And 3. All Kayla does is make an appearance or two a week since she started school.

4. Kayla does take some pretty good pictures of Walruses.

5. Kinsley still has some crazy hair.

6. Kinsley is a very messy eater.

7. If you give Kayla a permanent marker and a target toy catalog and ask her to circle what she wants for her birthday and Christmas, she circles everything.

And even though this isn't an instagram conclusion...I've concluded that I sound very southern on this video. Why? I don't know. Because I don't think I sound like this in "real" life. If I do please don't tell me. :)

weekly photos.

I just recently found Amy from a good life. And by recently I mean, like two days ago. I read about, well I don't want to admit how many past blog posts I read. ;) She does a link up of weekly instagram photos. She's on week 95! I thought I would join in.

So, here is our week in instagram photos.

With Kayla's first week of kindergarten we didn't do a whole lot. Just a lot of dressing cute and walking to the bus stop.

Stop over and join in on the fun.

***and if you haven't already follow me on instagram @megangiraldo because I would love to follow you back!

Happy weekend friends!

The good life via instagram

Life lately has been good, really good.

It's been spent by the pool. With the 3 little ladies who make my world brighter. And with a man who makes this crazy, wonderful life a little easier.

I've celebrated exciting news with friends.

I've hung out with old friends. Nothing is better than Red Robin followed by the pool. And Kayla has asked over and over again to go to the pool with her new friend, so she agrees.

I've been there for friends when they needed me. And helping someone out is always good for the heart and soul. I've made sure we, as a family, have gone out and done stuff...together. It's been so hot, it would be easy to say no, let's just stay home. But we haven't. We've been to a concert, to see fireworks, to the park, to the pool. And my husband has been able to join us. And my girls get extra excited when daddy doesn't have to work and can come with us.

I've accomplished a lot on my summer bucket list already: Have fun, make memories, go out and explore, make friends, keep old friendships alive. Show the girls what is truly important: Family and friends. After all, it's the little things in life that really matter.

I hope you all had a happy and safe 4th of July.
